Enhancing the circular economy through smart extraction of raw materials from wastewater recycling for greener asphalt and concrete production
The project “Enhancing the circular economy by intelligent extraction of raw materials from wastewater recycling for greener production of asphalt and concrete”, acronym Greenphalt, is implemented under the EUROSTARS 3 programme.
Project description:The “GreenPhalt” project is a European research project aimed at developing a technology capable of recycling industrial wastewater from the production of waterborne paints and subsequently recovering the intermediate products in the production of asphalt and concrete in order to reduce the environmental burden.
Project objective: GreenPhalt aims to completely recycle and upcycle the products of electrochemical wastewater treatment in hazardous industrial wastewater from paint production: without the production of any unnecessary by-products and emission gases. The first product of our electrochemical and mechanical recycling is technical water to be reused in the cleaning of paint production lines. The second product is a mechanically dried sludge composed of metal oxides and minerals to be upcycled for the production of concrete and asphalt. Processes will be optimized by online monitoring of recycling parameters and through our AI algorithms and computer neural networks.
